Mexico is renowned for its white soft sandy beaches. If you are taking little ones the Caribbean coastline is best for calmer seas and family friendly beaches, and this is where most families head for their perfect resort holiday.   For strong swimmers and surf lovers the Pacific coast is the place to be.   
 

You can swim in one of the many underground cenotes (caverns) or why not have a go at white water rafting or zip lines at one of the three water theme parks on the Yucatan Peninsula, Xplor, Xel-Ha or Xcaret.  
 

 

Mexico may be one of the world’s finest beach resort destinations but it also has a wealth of Mayan history to absorb if you fancy a day or two away from the beach.  A must see are the ancient city ruins and pyramid of Chichen Itza and worth a visit is Uxmal, an important archaeological site of Maya culture.
